16 days and counting

We leave in 16 days...

the good news is I lost 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I had surgery in February and wasn't on my feet again until mid March, so things got way-laid... a lot. But, I'm feeling good and doing things that will last and continue well past our Disney trip in just a few short weeks.

I have started doing green smoothies for breakfast and LOVE them. My favorite it a chocolate,pb, banana, and spinach smoothie. I add in some protein powder for an added kick and I am STUFFED until lunch. With that, I've also practically cut out all soda and tea and am drinking water round the clock. I packed away my bread maker, and instead I've been using whole wheat tortillas for sandwiches and wraps and just going bread less a lot. Burgers wrapped in delicious romaine and crispy iceberg lettuce with a nice slice of tomato and a thin slice of cheese are delish! Lunches usually consist of some sort of veggies and humus, which my 18 month old LOVES. She seriously will eat it with a spoon.

I think I will try and blog more regularly, even though our trip will be come and gone soon. Disney is what got me motivated to get back in shape, and I'm sure it won't be our last trip!!

I will leave you with the recipe for the smoothie mentioned above!

Chocolate Breakfast Smoothie/Shake

  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1.5 tsp coca powder
  • 4-8 oz vanilla soy or almond milk (depending on how thick you want it)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1/2 tbs peanut butter
  • sometimes i throw a few frozen strawberries in too
  • add ice if you want it to be a bit thicker

Did I mention I'm a HORRIBLE blogger?

I love to write, I really do. But then I climb into bed, get sucking into the black hole of Facebook and finally just want to sleep for an hour before my 16 month old wakes up at 1am to nurse. (Yup, she's looking to take his sisters record for longest night nurser EVAH!)

So... I've been eating not so great, and the weather hasn't been very cooperative to outdoor exercise. In other words, I've been slacking. One week in and I'm slacking. Oy. Well, today my friend posted her blog and talked about going streaking. Nooooo not that kind of streaking, get your head out of college. An exercise streak. Committing to exercise every day for a certain amount of time. I am going to start today. Jillian Michaels 30 day shred has been stairing me down for....well too long. (I bought it when Ella was 3 months old and she turned 3 years old yesterday.)

And.... sadly, I've gained 2 lbs. Lack.of.self.control.

Ugh... so, with that I will fully disclose that I had a piece of birthday cake for breakfast and will be scrounging what is in the house to eat until Friday when my new monthly food budget starts over. I will work to make good choices with what I have though.

Damn you caffeine!!

Well, today wasn't so bad. Ha. Yeah, right.
.
It's 1:24am and I'm LONGING for caffeine. The cold Cokes in the mini fridge downstairs call my name. Why is it that I can go a day w/o a soda or sweet tea no problem when I'm not TRYING to, but after deciding this morning that I wouldn't have any soda or sweet tea Mon-Fri this week I'm loosing my mind in under 24 hours.

Today the girls and I hit up the park and although I didn't get to walk as I had hoped, I did chase them around a fair bit and when I wasn't chasing them, I was at least standing. E and H seem to be digging daily park trips as after day 2 they both went down to bed fairly easy.

I posted a link to her over on the wdwmagic.com forum. I figured I'm more likely to post if people have seem my blog and know I'm working on this.

This morning I did some more research and planning for our trip. I'm excited to report that I *think* we are going to get E a pirate make over one of the days we are at MK. We looked at the Pirates & Fireworks cruise, but decided that it was more than we wanted to spend on something like that, especially since most reviews I read didn't have much to say about the included snacks. Where is your favorite place to watch the fireworks?

I guess that's all for now.
Night!

117 days 1 hour 31 minutes

That is what the countdown on my laptop reads as I type this first blog post.

I have 4 months until I see my girl's faces light up in delight as they are blessed to enjoy a vacation of a lifetime. 5 glorious days in the Disney World Theme parks with some of their favorite people. The trip, a celebration of my in-law's (MIL- E, FIL- M) 40'th wedding anniversary, is a gift from my in-law's to us (Husband S, daughters E-3 years and H-1 year, BIL-J and BIL's GF-B.)

I have been excitedly planning the trip with my MIL, and then it hit me. How am I going to be able to really enjoy this trip if half way through day one my thighs have begun to chafe and by that night I'm in extreme pain? That pain won't be gone the morning of day 2. No, I will still be chafed and in pain and although I will pull it together, days 2-5 will be pretty miserable.

SO.... the next 117 days I will work to change that. I don't expect body to morph into that of a super model, or even the one I had the last time I was what I refer to as skinny me. I just want to be able to wear shorts and not be uncomfortable and not have to worry about fat rubbing raw.

No, these are not pleasant images. But they are images I plan to change!

Tonight I ate the last of my ice cream. Tomorrow I start eating withing reason and will start some sort of exercise. Tonight I will Google and Pin until I find SOMETHING to help me get on the right track!

Wish me luck!
